Knit the first stitch through the back loop and then slide both stitches off the needle. Narrow cables are quite easy to knit without a cable needle! With the needle behind the first stitch, knit the second stitch into the back loop but do not drop it off the needle. Of course, you can work the design without any twisted stitches, but that will affect the gauge enough that the sizing will change. The neckband is the only place without twisted knit stitches, because it needs extra elasticity. Twisting is easier on knit rather than purl stitches, so this sweater is worked in the round as much as possible. ![]() I love it when everything works out smoothly! Pattern NotesĪll the knit stitches on the chart are twisted (worked through the back loop) but I refrained from marking each with a special symbol. The neck is shaped with short rows so you can continue with the “resting” stitches and the pattern flows naturally to the ribbed edge. The half repeats, which end at the front and back pieces, also transform into a new block pattern over the shoulders. The sweater is constructed so the narrow cables on the lower edge either continue as a group or transition into other patterns. I’ve knitted many variations of it-the first time was on a sweater for my mother, about 20 years ago. The pattern is worked with twisted stitches against a reverse stockinette background to heighten the relief effect. It seems like everyone sees something different in this pattern: arrowheads, tulips, and fox heads are some of the suggestions I’ve gotten. You can also set the polarity to be displayed inside or outside of the circle (or angle) formed by the arrow. If the polarity is shown at the handle you can move it by moving the handle. The polarity for an arrow will be shown at the Arrowhead or at the arrow's Handle depending on which one you check. You can also use another character or characters by clicking on the other button and typing in what you want to appear.įont lets you set the font of the polarity associated with the arrow. You can choose + or S to indicate a link in the same direction and - or O to indicate a reversing link. The displayed polarity is for appearance purposes only, and does not influence simulation. This can be a useful marker in helping to identify the nature of causal connections as in: Polarity ( None or + or - or S or O or Other) determines the displayed polarity for an arrow. Click on the Radio Button to the left of the line you want. If the arrow you are setting options for is a perpendicular line arrow, you can also choose among line separation widths for the arrow. Line Style/Thickness lets you choose the line thickness you want, or dashed lines if appropriate. Click on the button to the right to select from a list of available colors. This is useful for marking a link as involving delays in Causal Loop Diagrams.Ĭolor allows you to select the color for the arrow. Hiding arrowheads can also be useful as a means of emphasizing the direction of physical flow.ĭelay marking, if checked, causes a double line to pass through the arrow perpendicularly to the arrow at the arrows handle. For arrows going into junction nodes, it is often useful to hide the arrowheads. Note that for arrows going through valves and other junctions the dialog box will a title such as "Options for Arrow from -junction- to Inventory." Here -junction- is the generic name for any word that is not a variable.Īrrowhead, if checked, causes the arrowhead to be displayed. A right mouse button click (or Ctrl + Click) on the handle for the arrows, or on the base of the arrowhead, (handles must be visible), brings up the Arrow Options dialog. You can hide arrows or change their displayed polarity and color. The arrow options are simpler than the word options.
